The Faculty of Social Work invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the Instructor rank in our Southern Alberta Region located on the campus of the University of Lethbridge. The Southern Alberta Region, established in 1982, is located within the traditional lands of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) nations and offers a fully accredited BSW degree program in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. Our fully accredited MSW degree program, with a specialization in clinical social work practice combines online delivery and several short residency periods in Lethbridge. Currently six faculty members educate and prepare approximately 25 MSW students and approximately 80 BSW students to enter the practice of social work and connect with our profession and the community.

Our work supports inter-professional and community-based enquiry from multiple perspectives in the generation and application of knowledge. Our goal is to be a national leader in knowledge to create social work well-being and just societies.

The successful candidate will have:
 A clear program of teaching, scholarly activity and relevant social work practice experience with a focus on one or more of the areas in: Indigenous social work practice; Indigenous epistemology; Indigenous social work education; anti-oppressive and post-colonial theory.
 A Master of Social Work degree with a minimum of four years full-time post MSW practice experience is required at the time of application.
 Will be required to register with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
 Evidence of excellence in teaching, at a university level, using a variety of delivery methods with an interdisciplinary approach in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat and contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum is required.
 Experience in teaching and supervising graduate students is a strong asset.
 A broad Indigenous knowledge of and familiarity with the Indigenous communities and an ability to bring those voices and way of knowing/being into their teaching and area of study is required.
 The successful candidate should possess evidence of strong record of service to the community and a demonstrated ability to build positive relationships within and alongside the professional community and Indigenous communities.
 Knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset. As a member of the Southern Alberta Region, the candidate must be willing to engage with members of the University of Lethbridge and Southern Alberta community partners along with providing service within the University of Calgary, Faculty of Social Work and within our profession.

Lethbridge is an increasingly diverse city of over 90,000, in close proximity of two large First Nations Reservations. It offers excellent educational and cultural facilities and a wonderful environment for families. Lethbridge is one of the sunniest cities in Canada and offers a mild climate. Within a two-hour drive of Lethbridge are the Rocky Mountains and world class recreational activities such as fishing, hiking and skiing.
