ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH, full-time, tenure-track position in “the long 18th century,” beginning August 1, 2019 (position number 83272); position contingent upon clearance and availability of funding. Duties and Responsibilities: teach M.A.- and Ph.D.-level courses in field of specialization; teach introductory and upper division courses in literature and composition; student advising; publish in area(s) of specialization; participate in departmental and university service; other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in English or comparable specialization from a college or university of recognized standing (ABD will be considered, but all requirements for degree must be completed by August 2019); dissertation and/or publications in the field; evidence of scholarly activity in the field; strong commitment to and evidence of excellence in teaching and service; and demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially. Desirable Qualifications: Experience and ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: digital humanities; comparative theories and methods; critical race studies; transatlantic (British and/or American) literature; global imperialism; Shakespeare and multiple period courses. Salary: commensurate with credentials and experience.
