We seek a candidate who studies the environment and anchors their research in Indigenous methodologies, themes, narratives, and concerns. Areas of expertise could include, but are not limited to Indigenous ecological knowledge, environmental justice, critical environmental theory, climate change, natural resource and resource management, water and land access and governance, place-based education, food systems, health and the environment, or sustainability practices, among others. The NAISA logo was designed by Jonathan Thunder, a Red Lake Ojibwe painter and digital artist from Minnesota. NAISA members inspired by canoe traditions among their own people sent examples to Thunder, who designed the logo with advice from the NAISA Council. The color scheme was chosen to signify those Indigenous peoples who are more land-based and do not have canoe traditions.
