Resignation of President-elect Makere Stewart-Harawira

Dear NAISA Members,

Due to reasons of ill health and workload, Makere Stewart-Harawira has made the difficult decision to step down from her position. NAISA Council has received and accepted her letter of resignation as of Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Please find attached an open letter to the membership from Makere.
NAISA Council has met with the Chair of the Nominations Committee, Hokulani Aikau, and authorized the Nominations Committee to make a nomination(s) for a Special Election to replace Makere for the duration of her term: President-elect 2012-2013, President 2013-2014, and Past President 2014-2015. Council's actions are made in accord with the provisions for replacement of officers (NAISA Constitution, Article IV, section 5) and elections (NAISA Constitution, Article V and Bylaws, Article III, especially section 10).

Sincerely,
K. Tsianina Lomawaima
