Tenure-Track Faculty Position in First Nations/Aboriginal Art History

Concordia University’s Department of Art History invites applications for one tenure-track position in the field of First Nations/Aboriginal Art History for July 1, 2011. We welcome applications from specialists in First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit arts and culture.

The department is committed to a curriculum that actively acknowledges the diversity of methods in the discipline of art history and theory. We are interested in art historians who are active in a variety of fields and approaches within the discipline.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and from the outset to assist in the supervision of MA students who are undertaking theses in the First Nations/Aboriginal art and architecture of North America. Although classes are taught in English, fluency in spoken and written French would be considered an asset.

Applicants should hold a completed PhD, have teaching experience at the post-secondary level, and have a demonstrated ability to conduct and disseminate innovative research.

Submissions should consist of a letter of application; a curriculum vitae; a statement of teaching philosophy and interests; evidence of teaching effectiveness (including course syllabi and evaluations); a research statement and writing sample; and the names and contact information of three referees.
