The Ethnic Studies Program at Santa Clara University invites applications for an open rank position in African American Studies, Asian American Studies, Chicana/o Studies, or Native American Studies to begin in Fall 2011. All candidates must have a Ph.D., or be near completion, in Ethnic Studies or in a social science or humanities discipline such as American Studies, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Education, English, or History with a specialization on a racial and ethnic group(s) in the United States. We are especially interested in receiving applications from experienced assistant professors and associate professors who are willing and able to contribute to the leadership and development of the Ethnic Studies Program. The position will be full-time in the Ethnic Studies Program with the potential for a courtesy appointment in another department. All candidates must have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment in Ethnic Studies or in a social science or humanities discipline. Successful performance in an on-campus interview, teaching demonstration, and research presentation are required. Candidates should be prepared to teach seven courses per year, including introductory courses in African American Studies, Asian American Studies, Chicana/o Studies, or Native American Studies, on a quarter system with one scholarship release for research active faculty.
