However, this news video gives the impression that NAISA planned this protest. I think this misunderstanding needs to be corrected. I posted on my FB page that NAISA did not plan this protest, and I think credit needs to be given to those who did--Andy Smith and Klee Benally arranged things. Simon Ortiz represented our group to the media, and students from ASU's CAIM came down to support the protest as well. Myla Carpio brought water for our guests and plenty of poster board and markers for people to make posters. She transported people from the "belly of the beast" to the Immigration Center. Mishuana Goeman publicized the protest among those luxuriating in "the belly" and took care of things from that end. For the group of students who put their bodies on the line after the protest, occupied and chained themselves together at the border patrol, and were fined, I think it would be nice if NAISA could help out by collecting donations to assist this group in paying their fines.

I'm not sure how many people will see this, since it seems that many conference goers have been unaware of the debate that took place before the conference began.
