Kerri J. Malloy Candidate Statement and Bio: I am a lecturer in the Department of Native American Studies at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California teaching Introduction to Native American Studies and Indigenous People in US History. I am an enrolled member of the Yurok Tribe and also have family ties to the Karuk Tribe. I have eleven years of experience in Tribal government, having worked for the councils of one the largest and one of the smallest tribes in California, as well as, two terms on serving on my tribe’s housing authority. My degrees are in Native American Studies and Economics from Humboldt State University. I concentrate my academic work and research around perspectives of identity and its influence on government policy. I am seeking election to the Nominations Committee as a way to share my talents with NAISA through active participation in the organization. Serving on the Nominations Committee will be a way for me to contribute to and gain a deeper knowledge of NAISA.
