Robert Alexander Innes (BA University of Toronto, History; MA University of
Saskatchewan, Native Studies; PhD University of Arizona, American Indian
Studies) is Plains Cree and a registered member of Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan. In January 2007, Innes was appointed to the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Native Studies at the University of Saskatchewan. Prior to his appointment, he was the Pre-Doctoral Fellow in the American Indian Studies Program at Michigan State University. Innes currently serves as the editor of the Native Studies Review, a bi-annual, peer-reviewed journal published by the Department of Native Studies since 1982, teaches in the Department of Native Studies, and is researching and publishing in the areas of governance, Plains kinship protocols, and development.
