Statement
Although I am still relatively new to the academy, I am excited by the possibility of contributing to what is quickly becoming the preeminent scholarly organization devoted to tribal and indigenous issues. I have experience within various organizations both in leadership positions and as a member of various committees. At the University of North Dakota I am the faculty advisor for the Native American Law Student Association, the chairperson of the law school’s Diversity Committee, and a member of the university-wide American Indian Programs Council. I was also recently appointed by the North Dakota Supreme Court to a commission to study racial and ethnic bias in North Dakota Courts. Perhaps most importantly, I serve my tribal community as an associate justice on the Turtle Mountain Court of Appeals. I would appreciate the possibility to bring my experiences to the organization, learn from those who have come before me, and contribute to the positive growth of NAISA.
