Tenure-track position in Native American Literature with expertise in Creative Writing (Poetry)

The Department of English at Northern Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Native American Literature with expertise in Creative Writing (Poetry). Responsibilities include a 3/3 teaching load of introductory and advanced courses in Native American Literatures, as well as introductory and advanced poetry workshops. Expectations are primarily focused on excellence in teaching and professional/scholarly/creative work which contributes to personal and departmental effectiveness. Service to the department and the university is expected. Additional responsibilities include the direction of MA and MFA theses.

Minimum Qualifications: MFA or PhD. Commitment to teaching excellence and research specialization in Native American literatures in English, and significant publications of poetry in nationally recognized venues; successful instructional experience at the college level; and the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate workshops in the field of expertise, as well as lower-level courses. Additional expertise in LGBTQ or Global Indigenous Studies is desirable.
